A Danish music boarding school for young musicians
Baaring Musikefterskole is a creative and ambitious music boarding school located on the island of Funen in Denmark. Every year we welcome students in 8th, 9th and 10th grade who want to spend a transformative year developing their musical skills, confidence, and independence while becoming part of a close-knit community. Whether you’re an experienced musician or just beginning your musical journey, Baaring is a place where passion, curiosity, and creativity come first.
Everyday life at Baaring
From your very first day at Baaring, you enter a creative environment where rehearsals, songwriting sessions, jam cafés, and performances naturally bring you and your new friends together. You don’t need to be an advanced musician to join – only curious, motivated, and excited to explore your interests.
At our boarding school you live together with your classmates in a supportive environment where friendships grow naturally through shared meals, morning gatherings, themed weeks, study trips, and everyday moments in between.
Your main subject
Before the school year begins, you have to choose a main subject. You can choose between:
- Singer
- Musician
- Songwriting
- Beatmaker
- Music production
- Sound & light
The subject you choose will be your main focus for the year. Throughout the year, you receive one-to-one lessons with professional teachers, play in bands, join creative workshops, and perform at concerts both at school and across Denmark.
Apart from your main subject you can also choose between a range of elective subjects that will be a part of your school year. Here you can discover new interests or become better at the ones you already love.
We have a wide range of elective subjects from design, ceramics and PoetryJam to dancing, gastronomy, building your own instruments and even more music.
Your year at Baaring Musikefterskole
Accommodation, meals, materials, lessons, excursions, and travel experiences are part of the package.
Each year we go on a school trip somewhere in Europe. Earlier years we went to Italy, exploring the ancient city of Rome. To Iceland, seeing both the harsh nature and the cool music life. And lately to Austria skiing.

We warmly welcome families from abroad who are curious about the Danish “efterskole” experience. Whether you need guidance on applications, practical information, or would like to meet us online, we are always happy to help.
